Belgium is known for a few things, such as being the host Nation for many wars (Waterloo, Ypres (Flanders Fields), Ardennes, Bastogne), but also for being an early hub of industrialization and democratization (they gave Women the right to vote before the USA did).  Today they're the host for the EU and NATO, and of course, in the many years between, of many monasteries and Trappist orders that brew many fine & unique Belgian beers.
